LE PETIT FORT, JERSEY GRANTED PLANNING PERMISSION
MJP's Le Petit Fort, a private residence with annex sited on the west coast of Jersey, has been granted planning permission.
The site is very exposed to strong salt-laden wind from the west. The existing walls offer protection and the possibilities of a good microclimate within. In contrast, the site also commands extraordinary views out to sea to the west and up and down the coast. So the site invites a primordial response at ground level a sense of containment and refuge from the elements and at upper level the prospect of sea and sand and open landscape.
The accommodation of the main building includes at ground-floor level the kitchen and family room with associated utility rooms, a dining room and sewing room facing into the garden, a gym, store and cloakroom facilities associated with garages, and main entrance. At first-floor level, accommodation includes a living room and study and four bedrooms. The annex provides an additional bedroom and sitting room with a kitchen.

WESTMOUNT QUARRY, JERSEY SUBMITTED FOR PLANNING
MJP's mixed use development of 206 apartments on the site of a former quarry in St. Helier for Dandara Jersey Ltd. Jersey has been submitted for planning.
The designs include 16 sheltered apartments, a 60 room nursing home, and a children's nursery. The four buildings sit in a radial arrangement to take maximum advantage of sunlight, and the facade design inflects each apartment towards the view. The existing 50 metre high quarry rockface, which will be stabilised as part of the proposals, is revealed as part of the composition, framed between the buildings. MJP collaborated with Jersey architects Axis Mason on the proposals.
The project comprises four stepped medium to high rise residential blocks of a total of 200 studios and 1 & 2 bedroom apartments along with sheltered housing, a 60 bed nursing home and 300sqm commercial space.
