KENDREW QUADRANGLE ON RIBA AWARD SHORTLIST

RIBA South has included MJP's Kendrew Quadrangle in the shortlist for the RIBA Awards 2011. The winners will be announced on 19 May and will then go forward to be considered for the prestigious RIBA Stirling Prize and other Special Awards.

Kendrew Quadrangle is the third MJP designed building at St Johns College Oxford. 6000sqm in area over four floors with a large basement the Kendrew Quadrangle consists of 80 student rooms with 6 flats for college fellows and related academic and communal facilities. It is arranged in a quadrangle open to the South. The scheme has a strong sustainability strategy while the design was informed by the historical significance of the central beech tree and adjacent listed buildings.
