GREENWICH MILLENNIUM VILLAGE PROPOSALS

download Greenwich Millenium Village proposals

These design proposals were developed by Tibbalds, MJP Architects, PCKO and Allen Pyke as part of the design competition for the further development of Greenwich Millennium Village. The proposals add to and update Ralph Erskine’s original 1990’s masterplan for the final 3 phases of the development with 1800 homes together with commercial and community buildings, new landscape and public realm.

MJP’s proposals incorporated 3 different building typologies :
- Courtyard housing blocks providing a mix of private and communal external space
- The Sentinels stepped pavilion blocks in the southern park
- The Egde barrier building down the eastern perimeter

MJP's development concept had five main aims :
- to solve the noise problem first
- to maximise the relationship with the park
- to create a new pedestrian priority spine route to masterplan
- to provide varied groupings and typologies of housing units to bring variety and enliven/inform façade arrangements
- to build on the GMV legacy
