This is part of our masterplan for the regeneration of Ballymun, a community of 30,000 people occupying 325ha of north Dublin.
MJP Architects won the competition in 1997 to prepare the masterplan for the regeneration of this community of 30,000 people covering 325 hectares of North Dublin. MJP have completed 140 of the 600 Phase 1 mixed tenure new homes, designed with residentsı participation.
The imagery for the Crescent and Close is inspired by the architecture of Dublin. The long three-storey curving terrace overlooks the new public park in the manner of 18C Dublin squares and the Close behind the terrace is of rendered two storey cottages like those in many side roads in Dublin. The construction is part timber-frame for off-site quality control.
Home incorporate energy saving ideas such as increased insulation and some have rainwater collection for WC flushing.
The Crescent overlooks the new Coultry Park, laid out in MJP's masterplan. The next phase of the construction is on the other side of the park.
